Two hackers have promised to begin disclosing a new security vulnerability every day next month in MySpace, the popular social networking site owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

Do you want to get a TON of friends? Well you can with these two services:

You can also earn points by referring people to the service, which will in turn get you a ton more friends. Friday, September 8. 2006Employers use "Facebook" and "Myspace" to weed out applicants
This article is the reason that I think everyone who is going for a new job, trying to get into college, or needs to impress someone should keep their Myspace profile set to private.
Article: Colleen Seeker is a sophomore at the Carlson School of Management, who's a few years away from job-seeking in the real world. And, at the moment, she isn't too worried about what potential employers might learn about her online. "If it's going to happen, it's going to happen, oh well." And she's not alone. Morgan Kinross-Wright is a career counselor at Carlson School of Management. "A lot of students were surprised that recruiters might look them up on Facebook." "Facebook" is a social networking site like "Myspace," but is geared specifically toward college students. Millions of them have their own "Facebook" profile that can reveal everything from the admirable to the mundane. Karen Lange is the Dean of Students at the University of St. Thomas. "The caution I have is around putting too much personal information out there; their cell phone numbers or pictures or inappropriate pictures that might come back to haunt them later in life." Concern is growing, because more and more college recruiters and employers are not only doing criminal background checks on applicants, they're doing online "character checks." They're getting all the information they need, and then some, oftentimes, straight from the horses mouth. Kinross-Wright, "We're not hearing about it from recruiters, but from students who've said, yeah, my recruiter said that they 'facebooked' me." The best protection here is common sense; using the site's privacy controls so profiles aren't open to everyone and keeping the mundane to a minimum. Ben Nebo, a St. Thomas sophomore, has the most obvious, and perhaps, best advice. He says, "If you don't want your mom to see it, don't put it on." I don't know if this is temporary or permanant, but Myspace appears to have disabled the group section. I just tried to access the goups to post a bulletin in one of them and I got the following message:
GroupsDisabled 7/29/2006 I'll keep you updated as I find out more. Monday, July 17. 2006How to Promote on Myspace
If you have a band, business, or anything else you want to promote on Myspace then there are a couple of things you need to do. Remember that the whole goal is to get as many visitors to your profile, even if they aren't added as friends.
The first things you need to do is get as many friends added to your Myspace profile as you can. This can be done by either adding people as manually, joining "whore trains," or getting yourself added to AutoAdder.com. The easiest wasy to get friends is with AutoAdder. You can spend a couple of hours and get 600 friends. This will help you promote new things through posting of bulletins. The more friends you have, the more people that will see your bulletins. Two other services that you can use are Friend Fury and Friend Flood. These both work on point systems. So, the more people you add or refer, the more points you get. You can also buy a Feature Profile on Friend Fury that places you at the top of the list. The second thing you can do is as ask me to feature you in a Profile of the Week or Band of the Week posting. To do that, just leave a comment in this post and I will visit your profile to learn why I should feature you. Hint - It will help to get featured if you have joined BestMyspaceProfiles.com and have a banner on your layout. This will help you get a good amount of visitors per day. The third thing you need to do is get your Myspace link (www.Myspace.com/YourName) listed at FV to get a ton of visitors. This service will literally get you a million visitors to your Myspace profile, or any other website, if you know how to utilize it. To be successful using this service you will need to share this service with anyone else you know that is looking to promote as well. When you sign up for this service, it will be recommended that you add a script and a text link to your website. Since you can't add this script to Myspace, you will only need to add the text link. Happy Promoting! Band of the Week - Odus DriftwoodFormed in late 2004, Odus Driftwood hails from the New Brunswick, NJ area. Country, folk and blues are stripped down and blended for a unique sound based in traditional Americana. Set lists consist of original material, as well as covers ranging from Hank Williams to Bob Dylan. Eric Squindo (guitar, vocals) has performed for many years as a solo artist, as well as being a founding member of such bands as Great North Special (grateful dead cover band), The Hub City Ramblers, and Along Came Jones. In 2003, he released his first solo album, 'roadsick', which was chosen as the 7th top local album of the year by The Home News Tribune. Check this band out at www.myspace.com/odusdriftwood. If you would like your band featured in a "Band of the Week" posting, leave a comment on this post and we'll see what we can make happen. I never thought that a Profile of the Week would belong to a cat, but this cat is definetly deservant of this award.
Here is a blurb from this crazy cat's layout (http://www.myspace.com/lewisthecrazycat): My name is Lewis. I am currently under fire in the media and have been placed under house arrest because of my catlike stealth that has caused terror in my quaint Fairfield, CT neighborhood. There are allegations against me for ambushing several neighbors along with the local Avon lady, who currently has a lawsuit pending. I have since been placed under a restraining order and have been forced to spend my days gazing out my window. I'm the first cat in the state to be hit with a restraining order. You might have also read that I refused to take prozac to cure my aggressive ways...but lets be serious, I don't need prozac! This post is sponsored by: Save This Page to del.icio.us Wednesday, June 14. 2006Privacy on Myspace - Make your profile Private
I want to bring to people's attention what they are risking by baring all on Myspace.
I don't think most people know that when they put their information up on their Myspace layout that they will open themselves up to scruitiny from people they may not realize are looking at their layout. For example, I was in the airport this week waiting for my flight when I overheard 4 people talking about their co-worker's Myspace profile. This wouldn't be so bad, except that they were talking about the information that they were finding that they didn't know about this person, and it wasn't good information for co-workers to know. When a person displays information in their Myspace layout, they need to be aware that this information is public. That means that future employers, bosses, teachers, parents, co-workers, enemies, and everyone else can see this information and share it with others! When I tell people I run BestMyspaceProfiles.com, they instantly ask me how they can find out what their children or others are posting in their Myspace profile. So, what can you do to make your Myspace Layout private? There's a couple of easy things you can do. You can go to your account settings, click on Privacy Settings and you will see two options at the bottom of the page. The first option is "My Friends Only" and will only allow those that you've added as friends to see the details of your Myspace layout. This is the best option! If you have any information that you don't want strangers to know about you, then you need to do this! You can make this even stronger by checking the "Require email or last name to add me as a friend" setting that is above this one. This will require that people that want to add you as friends know at least your last name or email The second setting is "Anyone under 18 on MySpace" and will only allow people who SAY they are 18 view your Myspace profile. When you check this option, you will get a pop up from Myspace with the following warning:
This is true! What it comes down to is that you shouldn't put anything up on Myspace that you don't want the entire world to see. Ok people, I've seen too many people try to post a bulletin to get a myspace tracker. Here's an article that explains that this is not true.
Repost this article to get a free MySpace tracker! By Stephen Phillips My current beef with MySpace is something so ridiculous, so incredibly stupid, that I can’t believe I need to be warning people about it. But alas, at least once in their lives, most MySpace users have seen a bulletin subject that says something along the lines of “see who’s looking at your MySpace.” “Repost this bulletin,” it says. “You’ll automatically get a free tracker that tells you who’s looking at your MySpace profile.” First, I want to address these bulletins that instruct you to repost it to get (insert feature here). Technology has come a long way, but I’m sorry, folks; it’s not true. Posting a bulletin is not going to automatically score you software, though it might score you a deletion from someone’s friends list. If there’s one feature I love on MySpace, it’s the convenient button below each bulletin post that allows you to delete the offending poster from your friends list. The sickening part is that someone, somewhere, doesn’t believe me that the bulletins don’t work. Still, people wonder how many more times they’ll have to repost that tracker bulletin before Tom sends them the goods. Where would the tracker software come from? Do you think Tom checks for bulletins every day to hand out some super secret tracker program? He’s too busy posting to let everyone know that (insert feature here) isn’t working at the moment. I realize that there are real MySpace trackers out there, but I assure you that none of them magically come from any sort of chain-bulletin. For these free trackers available online, I warn you to use them at your own risk. Any sort of independently developed program that acts solely as a TRACKER is probably not a good idea to install. It’s the epitome of spyware, and it’s likely to track more than your MySpace profile activity. Developers who make those types of applications know how to exploit its users. As a matter of fact, two teens who developed a downloadable tool that could manipulate a MySpace feature were arrested last month after they threatened to hack the site if MySpace didn’t pay them $150,000. Would you trust an e-terrorist? I know that many people are desperate to know who’s been reading their emo poetry or ogling their borderline porn self-portraits, but isn’t that the whole point of social networking? We all have a little bit of stalker tendencies deep within our hearts, and trackers totally destroy the mystery behind it all. It shouldn’t matter who is looking at your profile. Instead, you should protect yourself from spyware, and just assume that no one is looking at it. MySpace is becoming a prime target for hackers, phishers and scammers. Several months ago, thousands of MySpace accounts were hacked, and the e-mail and password list circulated widely around the Internet. This was the result of phishing and very poor password management by MySpace users who used common words for passwords. Also, another MySpace phishing scam that was done via AOL Instant Messenger was recently stopped, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more. My simple advice is to let MySpace do what it does. Do not take it upon yourself to add third-party applications to your profile, and do your part to stop spreading cancerous bulletins to innocent, unsuspecting MySpace whores (enthusiasts). Ok, so do you want a ton of friends? Maybe you need it to promote your layout? You might want to set the record for the most friends on Myspace. Whatever reason you need a ton of friends, here's the tool for you!
Autoadder.com is like a perpetual whore train! It's really easy also. All you do is click the link above to go to the site; create a login; then start adding friends. A couple tips - if you login and you get a blank screen, click on the ATTENTION link at the top of the screen. This will open up a new window to take you to myspace. This will also fill in the contents of the blank screen. If you get to a point where it keeps asking you to enter a code off an image to add the friend, just enter the code once. It will then let you add another 25 to 50 friends without having to add this code. Another service that will help you get a ton of Friends is Friend Flood. This service works overtime for you by providing you with rewards points for every person you add and every person you refer and that they add. The more people you add, the more friends you will get. And, the more people you refer, the more people you get. This can add up to a ton of friends! Take all your new friends to a concert! Monday, April 17. 2006Turn off the Automatic Band Music
I hate going to someone's profile and having their layout set to automatically play their favorite band's music. Well, really this only bugs me if I'm trying to check Myspace at work and I don't want people to hear music blaring from my speakers.

I found this article today and thought it would be great to post here. You can find the original article at http://wiki.ehow.com/Defeat-a-MySpace-Addiction.
Do you find yourself checking MySpace several hundred times a day? Do you neglect the other important things in life? How many bulletins did you post in the last hour? Is MySpace open in another window right now? If so, then you may have a problem. Here's how to wean yourself off of MySpace so that you can resume living offline... Steps 1. Admit you have a problem. This may be hard, but accepting that MySpace has taken over your life is an important step into overcoming your addiction. If you simply can't resist the urge to check your home page, then it's clear that MySpace is controlling you and not the other way around. 2. Stop communicating with people through MySpace and correspond with only those you know, as fellow addicts only contribute to your problem. If you don't want to cut them off completely, consider just taking the friendships that you value off of MySpace. Get their phone numbers, email addresses, AIM screen names, ICQ numbers, or any other information that may be a way of contacting them outside of MySpace. (See Tips.) 3. Print out your page. You've probably personalized it and tweaked it to reflect your personality. In a way, it's a work of art that you created. You don't want it to be lost forever, so save a copy in print. Having a hard copy will make it easier to let go of your profile online. 4. Start deleting all of the images, comment boxes, background settings, songs, videos, and anything else you put on the page that didn't come with it. Make it into a plain MySpace profile, like it was when you started it. 5. Post several bulletins announcing that you will be no longer available on MySpace. 6. Delete your main pictures, blog, comments, friends, etc. If your profile is set to private, set it back to normal. Reset the information about yourself. 7. Change the headline to "No Longer Available" or some other indicator that you no longer use MySpace. 8. Stop using MySpace. Get an e-mail filter and set it to block MySpace, Facebook, or any other similar sites. 9. Find other creative activities to do. Try to find activities that both amuse you in the short-term and benefit you in the long-term. MySpace only provides a short-term pleasure (usually). 10. Very importantly, keep in contact with your friends through phone, e-mail, or messenger! Not talking to them may make you want to return to MySpace. 11. After waiting a good month and re-establishing your life, go back and delete your MySpace. It shouldn't, at this point, rip your heart out to do so. Tips People who hardly know you may not want to give you personal information and may feel uncomfortable interacting with you outside of MySpace. Find other activities to do with your time. Learn to program, write a book, etc. If MySpace is your homepage, change it to a personalized Google homepage. If your real-life friends and family members use MySpace, inform them that you're trying to stay away from it, and ask that they don't sign on when you're around. It may be really hard to keep in touch with some people, especially if they are MySpace addicts. If you want to talk to them outside of MySpace, but they don't sign onto AIM or you feel awkward calling them, you may want to try weaning them off MySpace as well. Remember, real friends don't let friends be MySpace addicts. If you're like most people, MySpace will lose it's appeal after a few weeks of steady or perhaps heavy use. Eventually the grandness will fade away and you will get sick of playing the waiting game for your friends to respond to your over-simplistic comments or messages. If you're like me, nothing beats simply picking up the phone and calling your friends to see how they're doing. Eventually, not only will you have no interests in signing on to MySpace, you will have no need to. Change your password by closing your eyes and randomly typing. This may require you to copy and paste to confirm your new password. Just be diligent in not peeking or writing this down. Warnings MySpace addictions are serious matters and should not be taken lightly. If you or someone you know is addicted to MySpace (symptoms listed above), please help them immediately. MySpace is now a site frequented by predators of a variety of types. It is strongly suggested that anyone associated with the site, either actively or not, to do everything possible to protect themselves from the constant trolling of those who would seek to take advantage of the site's weaknesses and faults. Wired just released an article written by Kevin Poulsen that details to parents how they should "find out" what is on their kid's MySpace profile.
The original link to this article is: http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,70287-0.html?tw=rss.index Here's the contents of the Article: MySpace can be unfamiliar ground to busy parents, and not everything is as it seems on the site. So Wired News addresses some of the most pressing questions parents might have if they explore their teenager's relationship with MySpace. This FAQ relies heavily on an interview with UC Berkeley researcher Danah Boyd, who studied teens' ways during a two-year ethnographic study of the MySpace phenomenon. Boyd speaks on her findings in a recent lecture. Can I search MySpace to see if my kid is on it? MySpace profiles are searchable, and with little detective work you can probably find your offspring if they are participating. But should you? That probably depends on your relationship with them. UC Berkeley researcher Danah Boyd says it's a bad idea. "Don't go on and engage in surveillance. That makes things really hard for kids to engage with you as a parent." Instead, Boyd recommends parents talk with their youngsters, and ask their teens to show them their profile, if they have one. I did it anyway. Should I be worried that my teenage girl is linked to so many male "friends?" No. A MySpace friend link isn't exactly a long-term commitment. In the spirit of inclusiveness, many teens make a point of accepting nearly anyone who submits a "friend request," and some teenage boys make a point of linking to as many teenage girls as they can (not surprising). That doesn't mean they're hooking up. "They might be linking to other people," Boyd says, "but they're not going out and meeting a bazillion strangers." What if she's linking to adult men? That can't be good. Boyd says kids collect online friends like baseball cards, and the reason for a link isn't always obvious: "They connect to their teachers, their older cousins, people who they think are cool." Moreover, MySpace is a music-driven site, and fans link to musicians they admire or have a crush on without any intention -- or hope -- of meeting them in real life. We don't recommend snooping, but you can click on a friend link and scope out that friend's other friends. "If you have a 50-year-old man connecting to a bunch of 15-year-old girls, that's something you can look at," says Boyd. How should I talk to them about MySpace? Try not to get parental. Remember, MySpace isn't a dirty secret, and your kids aren't doing anything wrong just by being there. "If you do it in peer-level approach, rather than a condescending control approach, you'll have much more success," says Boyd. Remember, teens took over MySpace and made it their own. Try to respect that you're on their territory. "You don't want to create controlling situations, because what these kids are trying to do is create a space outside of parental control," Boyd says. What is MySpace doing to protect its users? The company insists it takes the safety and privacy of its users seriously. MySpace says it has dedicated a third of its workforce to policing the site 24 hours a day, and that it deletes anyone it determines is under its minimum 14-years-old age limit. It removes any inappropriate images it finds. The company also works with law enforcement agencies, and has partnered with a nonprofit online safety group called WiredSafety. You'll find a page on the site for reporting inappropriate content. Tuesday, February 21. 2006Profile of the Week - Week 1![]() This week's profile of the week is Randi.
